Case Studies

The Furniture Station
The Furniture Station is a registered charity and an anti-poverty initiative in Stockport, supplying re-usable, essential items of furniture and white goods to individuals and families in need within the Borough of Stockport. Each year they support over 1200 individuals and families within the Borough of Stockport.

In 2009 they were awarded a grant from the Trust, which they used to purchase 10 double beds. They later told us "Your grant has allowed us to make provisions for 10 families, meaning they can have a proper nights sleep and so will be making a real difference in peoples’ lives."

Volunteer Link Scheme (VLS)
VLS provides one-to-one volunteer befriending to older and disabled people within the London Borough of Ealing. They have 46 volunteer befrienders who visit 52 clients every week. Volunteers are intensively trained to ensure they are fully supported in what they do but they had spotted a gap when it came to First Aid Training. The Trust awarded a grant to help get this training off the ground.

Let Us Play
Let Us Play provides sports, arts and play activities for children with special needs and disabilities in the Wolverhampton area. They encourage siblings to attend, and parents or carers can go along to meet and socialise with other families. The Thomas Wall Trust were able to help with a grant towards the costs of running a children’s cookery project.
